SiteHive in New Zealand Aotearoa: A Big Year of Growth and Expansion

New Zealand has been part of SiteHive’s story from the early days. Our first Aotearoa project began in late 2021 at the Auckland City Hospital Central Plant and Tunnel works. There’s also a personal connection: our co-founder, Adam Ferguson, lived in New Zealand for several years with his family, and that experience shaped how he thought about local environmental challenges, community and the way projects operate. The input we received from early New Zealand teams also helped guide how we developed SiteHive.

As Adam, SiteHive’s co-founder, explains, “We’ve always worked with New Zealand teams in mind, and when Ben and I looked at bringing SiteHive to New Zealand, we deliberately started things slow, with just a few projects. We wanted to make sure we had a solution built for the way work is done here.”

2025 has been a defining year for SiteHive in Aotearoa. More teams across construction, building, ports and industrial operations are now using SiteHive to manage noise, dust and vibration in real time, and it’s been great to see steady interest turn into real momentum across the motu.

“This year really confirmed how committed we are to New Zealand. The growth has been exciting, but what matters most is supporting teams with the right tools and standing alongside them as they deliver important projects,” said Ben Cooper-Woolley, co-founder at SiteHive.

To support this growth, SiteHive welcomed Paul Curtis to the Sitehive whanau in May as our first New Zealand-based team member. Paul works directly with project teams across the country, helping them get value from SiteHive’s modern environmental technology.

We also introduced NZD pricing, making it more cost-effective and easier for local teams to access our technology. And we formally registered SiteHive as a New Zealand business – a practical but important step that reflects our long-term commitment to Aotearoa and the scale of work now relying on SiteHive every day.

With more projects moving to real-time monitoring, SiteHive has become part of how major and regional projects manage their environmental impact. And teams tell us they love having clear, actionable information that helps them understand exactly what’s happening on site.

Leonard Terry, Senior Acoustic Engineer at WSP explains: “SiteHive has been instrumental in providing real-time vibration monitoring data and feedback for several heritage buildings surrounding the site in Auckland’s busiest street. Additionally, the SiteHive team was able to support us in providing an innovative and bespoke solution for underground monitoring, which helped de-risk the project and was critical for successful project delivery.”

  • We welcome Paul Curtis, our first local team member in Aotearoa, based in Auckland
  • Release of SiteHive’s next-generation monitoring devices, with ground-breaking new capabilities for noise, dust and vibration monitoring
  • Local NZ$ pricing established, making it more practical and cheaper for New Zealand projects
  • Continuous innovation with new features such as a revolutionary new way to measure ground-borne noise
  • SiteHive recognised by industry for innovation and growth
  • Major New Zealand projects use SiteHive across infrastructure, transport, hospitals and ports
  • Built on established relationships with New Zealand industry bodies such as the Infrastructure Sustainability Council and New Zealand Acoustical Society planning

2025 continued to see SiteHive supporting some of New Zealand’s most significant infrastructure and community projects, including the Watercare Central Interceptor Tunnel in Auckland and the Mercury Energy Taupō Control Gates Erosion Repair in Waikato. These projects rely on clear, real-time noise, dust and vibration insights to coordinate complex work, minimise disruption for nearby communities and meet regulatory expectations.

SiteHive is also widely used on national and regional developments – including hospital refurbishments, water quality upgrades, wastewater treatment plants, road projects and airport improvements.

SiteHive also supports sectors such as ports, airports, waste management facilities, quarries, mines and other industrial operations with capabilities tailored to their specific needs. In industrial ports, for example, teams can see live environmental data alongside real-time vessel movements. This gives them helpful context for understanding environmental impacts and keeping stakeholders informed.

SiteHive is now a trusted environmental management partner for many of New Zealand’s leading contractors, operators, consultants and asset owners. Teams choose SiteHive for:

Modern, easy-to-use monitoring devices

The SiteHive Hexanode family provides continuous noise, dustandvibration data in real time. Devices automatically capture images, audio and direction-of-arrival maps, giving teams the context they need to understand what’s happening on site. Built-in Wi-Fi and 4G mean data is accessible even in remote or difficult locations.

“SiteHive’s devices are highly portable, simple to set up, and easy to power, requiring minimal maintenance to keep them operating effectively,” says Blayn Fenwick, Senior Environment and Sustainability Advisor at Downer.

Clear, proactive insights through powerful software

SiteHive Enviro brings all environmental information together in one place so teams can see what’s happening in real time. Live graphs, interactive mapping, media and audio, AI-powered noise classification and real-time alerts help teams investigate quickly and stay ahead of issues. Automated reporting makes it easy to produce clear, reliable compliance reports. Teams can also share live stakeholder views, giving clients and communities real-time access to key information.

Blayn also explains: “We no longer have to carry out manual data retrieval, SiteHive Enviro gives instant access to all our data and saves us hours of work. Noise and vibration data is presented clearly in SiteHive’s dashboard, making it easy to interpret what’s happening on site. Being able to generate custom reports that clearly summarise key information saves us a huge amount of time.”

Designed for real-world challenges

From managing community expectations to meeting regulatory requirements or navigating complex work sites, New Zealand teams use SiteHive because it saves time, reduces manual work and helps projects communicate clearly with stakeholders.

“What I hear from teams on site is that they want tools that take away the complexity. They need reliable environmental data that gives them clarity and helps them make quicker, more confident decisions to keep projects on track and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and the community,” explains Paul Curtis, New Zealand Business Development Manager at SiteHive.

As more teams move toward proactive environmental management, SiteHive will continue to evolve so New Zealand projects have access to modern, easy-to-use environmental tools.

Continuous innovation

We release new capabilities regularly as we refine how environmental information is captured and understood. A major milestone this year was the launch of the next-generation SiteHive Hexanode devices – designed to improve reliability, usability and the accuracy of noise, dust and vibration data.

Research and industry partnerships

SiteHive is also helping advance the wider industry through research and technical development. Recent work on ground-borne noise has introduced a more practical, unobtrusive way to monitor ground-borne noise through vibration. We’re also working with key industry organisations in Aotearoa, including the Infrastructure Sustainability Council and the New Zealand Acoustical Society, to support best practice and strengthen industry capability.

Product development shaped by real site challenges

SiteHive’s roadmap is guided by direct feedback from New Zealand project teams. Our product and engineering teams work closely with users to understand what they need, and to develop features that make environmental management faster, clearer and easier.

Scaling operations

As adoption grows, SiteHive will continue to scale its support and operations for projects, so teams across the motu have access to reliable technology, fast delivery and responsive expert help whenever they need it.

SiteHive’s growth in Aotearoa reflects a wider shift toward proactive, real-time environmental management. Teams want clear information they can trust, and tools that make their work easier. SiteHive is proud to support that. We’re looking forward to working alongside project teams in 2026 and beyond to make environmental management faster, clearer and easier – helping deliver better outcomes for projects and communities.
